Dr. Gregory Moyer

Dr. Moyer is the Fisheries Professor at Mansfield University. He has been in this position for two years.

How has fracking impacted the environment, specifically fish populations and habitat?- “I don’t know of any instances in the area where it has. I think the thing to worry about more is the silt from the trucks, rather than the fracking fluid getting into the water supplies.”

Do you think the positive impacts outweigh the negative impacts?– “As a scientist, I have yet to see any detrimental effects of fracking. Other than the aesthetics of having the fracking pads visible versus having trees and foliage. In the community, I see the aesthetic value going down. Honestly, the thing I like least about fracking is that it isn’t transparent- it is hard to find information about all the different aspects of it.”
