First Week of October

Half Way Point

As we approach the midterm point of the semester I have mixed feelings about the progress of our project. I think that the project will defiantly all come together but the interview half of the project has been rough. I think instead of getting distracted by the road blocks I am focusing more on collecting primary sources from newspapers and online sources. I really enjoy looking at the colleges old newspapers because it has opinion pieces that you can’t find in the town or larger newspapers. Worse comes to worse those sources might be a bigger part of the project than I originally anticipated.

As Halloween approaches I’m looking forward to getting some first hand account pictures and videos of this years Pumpkin Fest. It is the first time Keene is holding the festival since the incident in 2014. There is a lot of tension about what may happen and the risks that holding it again and having something bad happen might have on the school and the town. But I have a good feeling that the majority of students will recognize the risk and not push it. Either way I’ll have many pictures and videos of the event which will be a good addition to the conclusion of the project when we talk about the end result of the resolution.

  1. I’m glad that you are able to get some information about the Pumpkin Fest this year, as I think that will really enhance the effectiveness of your project in general. I know it has been hard for you both with IRB, and I definitely feel your pain. We had been struggling with it as well. I hope that it all works out, and that you are able to gather some interesting information!

  2. We’re looking forward to seeing your footage of Pumpkin Fest! And I’m glad that you’re able to sort of reorient yourself with newspapers since the interview process is taking longer than we’d anticipated. Great progress on research and overcoming hurdles, Erin!
