Timeline Research and Success

Hey everyone! Alyssa and I returned to the library’s archive room and found some great sources to use for our timeline and map. There were so many important dates and we discovered so much useful and interesting information about each school district’s way of addressing desegregation. Some of the important dates were ones we’ve known since grade school, but some were shocking such as the year the first African American student was enrolled in our university! To top off our latest visits to the library, we also found out that we are allowed to photocopy any of the primary documents we wish to have a copy of for further review, which will be great once we get into the heart of our research as we continue to develop our website. After some deliberation, we’ve decided that we probably won’t be seeking out interviews and therefore it is not necessary to contact our IRB representative. There is a well of information in the archives that will aid us greatly. This activity was a cool step in the process of our research project. I did some have some trouble at first, but I found the timeline very easy to create. Looking forward to dig further into our research and to get started on our research proposal.
