Bellino, Kristyn. “One Last Toast To Pumpkin Festival at Keene State College.” The Equinox, October 2010
In this excerpt in the Equinox, Senior, Kristyn Bellino, reflects on her experience of pumpkin fest. She discusses how this time of year brings together the experience of being a Keene community member and that Pumpkin Fest has shaped her college experience in a crystalizing way through the Pumpkin Lobotomy. The issue that seems to have developed over the years that may put the festival at a halt were:
- too expensive to run
- too many problems
- Boston breaking the record

The BearCat is a military grade riot control vehicle that was granted to the Keene Police Department from Homeland Security, which has caused confusion and outrage simply because: what is the need for one? . “The police cited, saying that the Pumpkin festival had the potential to be useful to the police and the community”. It is important to note the BearCat vehicle has not been used at all. The other purposes of the armored vehicle is aid in natural disasters such as floods, falling trees, as well as to neutralize an active shooter.
