NBC shows that the riot was started by “both students and non students from around the region drove the disturbances.” They also reefer to the rioters as “unruly college students” and not rioters.
The story did acknolwedge that students were angered at the behavior and helped clean up the following day. I think this news story gives an accurate and well rounded portrayal of the incident for the most part. Except for the section when the women being interviewed said “it’s never ever been this chaotic” because as shown by the newspaper articles from 1991 onward there has been chaos at the Pumpkin Festival before 2014.
