Milestone #1 Assignment

Hello,

For the milestone assignment Kailee and I decided to make sure we have exhausted all of our options for research materials. We went to our school’s library and the local places near us that could have possible information on “desegregation in schools of Fredericksburg”. We were able to go to our university’s library, the Regional Library, and the local Heritage archives Center. We found our information mostly in the Central Rappahannock Library. There we were able to find articles on specific schools near us. The people at the library were very helpful, and we were able to get a good range of newspaper articles on the topic. We did not necessarily have any information that was useful to us at the Heritage Center, but I am glad that we tried!

As far as obstacles go we had quite a few. Kailee and I have very different schedules, so it was hard for us to meet up in order to go researching for materials. When we made our research contract we made sure that we were able to give each other enough leeway to finish what we have to do. We were able to find a time period on Tuesdays and Thursdays to meet up with one another before class. I think having that chunk of time allotted for this project has helped us in many ways.

Another thing we had an obstacle for is getting permission for the pictures from the newspapers we wanted to use. Our timeline allows us to figure out about pictures later in the semester, but we wanted to get ahead of the game. We have emailed the lady that we needed to contact for the proper citations, but it has been a week since we have contacted her. We will need to update on that after Fall Break.

Lastly, we do have photocopies for the materials. We do not have electronic copies of them, so we will have to figure it out in the future.

We did it! Milestone#1.
